What the Harvest Teaches About Letting Go

Come fall, the land shows us something we often forget in summer's rush: not everything needs to keep growing. The fields that gave their all through July and August don't apologize for going quiet. The orchards don't fret about bare branches. There's a rightness to the pulling back, the tucking in, the letting be. Maybe that's what we need to remember too. Our hands don't always have to be full. Our schedules don't always need more. Sometimes the wisest thing we can do is notice what's already been enough, and then step back to let it rest. That's what makes fall such a good teacher. It shows us that rest isn't laziness—it's part of how things actually work. So this week, try it. Let something go. Let yourself be a little slower. The harvest will wait, and so will tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by Sam's Grill—a warm table is always here when you need to rest.” — Uncle Sam
